Yes, if you are using your ePhona Mobile SIM in the UK and someone calls you then you don’t pay to receive that call.

Our SIM cards will work in any handset, just as long as they are unlocked and 3G compatible. If you have a handset from another manufacturer we would suggest that you contact your local network or visit a mobile phone shop to have it unlocked.

SIM stands for Subscriber Identity Module. This is a smart card used with digital mobile handsets. It is the SIM card that tells a mobile communications network or service provider who you are, what service plan you are on and how you should be charged for your calls. A SIM card may also be used to store information such as the telephone numbers of the people you call all the time.

Many mobile handsets are actually not locked, so please check your handset first. The easiest way to do this is to remove your current UK SIM card and replace it with your ePhona Mobile SIM. If you can make a call it's unlocked. If you see a message saying 'barred' or 'denied' then your phone is locked and needs to be unlocked and in most cases can be done at your local phone shop.

You will receive a telephone number together with your SIM card.

It’s easy to move your current mobile number to ePhona Mobile from any of the UK’s major networks including: 02, T-Mobile, Orange, Vodafone, Three and Virgin Mobile.

To move your number when you switch to ePhona you will need to ask your existing mobile company for a PAC (Porting Authorisation Code) before you cancel your service with them. This is the reference number you will need to give us so that we can transfer your number to ePhona.

Just follow these simple steps to keep your number:

It normally takes around two to three working days to transfer your old number from your previous service provider to your new ePhona Mobile SIM. Not to worry, during this time you can still use your ePhona SIM with the number it had when you first bought it.

As soon as the number you wish to keep is live on your new ePhona Mobile SIM card we will text you to let you know your number has been ported over. This number automatically replaces the previous number supplied by us. It’s as simple as that.

To place a call back to the UK from another country press the + button and then type 44 and dial the telephone number remembering to remove the first 0. Please check your phone manual if you are not sure how to dial the (+) key from your phone.

You can check your balance and apply a top-up voucher from your ePhona Mobile by calling 32161, free of charge.  If you transfer to our Customer Services team you will be charged 10p per minute. Calls to 0203 064 0097 from other networks are charged at your services provider’s standard national rate.

ePhona Mobile works in the same way as other mobiles when it comes to sending international text messages. Simply texts 00 followed by your country code, then your area code and then the phone number and press the dialer button. Instead of a 00 you can also use a "+".

The handset needs to be compatible with the internationally recognised 3G. There are no other restrictions on the type of handset you can use with ePhona Mobile. Please call our customer services team on 0203 064 0097 if you are unsure about your handset.

We automatically deactivate SIM cards if you do not use them to make a call or send a text for more than 80 days. Unfortunately these SIM cards cannot be reconnected and the mobile number also stops being available for you to use after this time.

When a new message arrives, you'll see an envelope symbol on your screen. To listen to the message, simply press and hold down the '1' key.

Depending on which phone you have, either:

Press and hold a button that has an envelope symbol or press and hold '1' on your phone. If you're still not sure which button to press, check out your ePhona Mobile guide or phone manual.

If you Pay As You Go, you'll need to be in credit to pick up your voicemail, even though it's free to listen in the UK.

Just access your voicemail as usual. In some countries the voicemail symbol won't appear, so if you're expecting a message then it's a good idea to keep checking.

All you need to do is set up a voicemail PIN before you go. To do this, just call your voicemail as usual, then follow the instructions.

To listen to your messages while you're away, just call your voicemail. When you hear your personal greeting, interrupt it by pressing #, then enter your voicemail PIN, and that's it!

While voicemail is free in the UK, listening to your voicemail messages while you're abroad costs the standard call rate from the region you're in.

While you're away, if someone calls you and is diverted to voicemail, you'll be charged for the cost of routing the call to the country you're in and then back to the UK, even if they don't leave a message. To avoid extra charges set your voicemail to 'divert all calls' before you leave the UK. Remember to remove it when you get back.
